Rana Choir

Description

The Rana Choir is composed of an intergenerational group of Muslim, Christian and Jewish women from the mixed-city of Jaffa and is the only Arab-Jewish Women’s choir in Israel. Since its establishment in 2008, choir members have gathered together in the pursuit of creating an equal and peaceful society by amplifying women’s voices in the Israeli-Palestinian discourse.
Through their performances and ongoing activities, Rana demonstrates living proof of the power of shared artistic creation in generating intercultural cooperation and collaboration, while sowing seeds of hope and forging deep human relationships even in the most challenging of contexts.
Rana’s activities are directed at generating intercultural dialogue and creativity, enabling bridge-building and actualizing transformative interactions through music between various groups in Israel-Palestine and abroad, all through a gendered lens.
