Ossim Shalom

Ossim Shalom – Social Workers for Peace and Social Welfare is a professional nonpartisan, non-governmental organization with 1,200 members, Jewish and Arab social workers from all over Israel. As a role model Ossim Shalom has two chairperson, one Arab and one Jewish. Founded in 1991, Ossim shalom strives toward peace, increased social welfare, and social justice in Israel. Ossim shalom focuses its activities on two main directions: (1) Peace and social justice oriented activities. (2) Social change activities aiming at bridging the social gaps in Israeli society, empowering Arab communities in Israel, creating sustainable, lasting change in the social environment, based on reciprocal acknowledgment, acceptance, and mutual respect within a democratic civil society. In order to achieve these goals, Ossim Shalom has developed professional projects and models of work.
