FeelBeit’s summer peak events, which we’ve chosen this year to call SHIFT—because of the tectonic shifts beneath our feet, because of the way we have all had to shift time again to navigate the chaos around us, because we believe that creating something better requires shifts in ourselves and in how we come together.
You can see the (almost) full program here, but we will have special gatherings for funders and close friends with light fare and a conversation with the artistic directors on three separate nights: 7/8, 12/8, and 21/8 starting at 19:30. Each of these evenings has an extraordinary main event:
August 7: In the Presence of the Voice featuring Nour Darwish, Ravid Kahlani and Yehia Suliman. Nour and Yehia will dive deep into the classical Arabic traditions of Lebanon and Egypt, while Ravid will draw inspiration from his Yemeni roots together with a wide array of Eastern musical traditions. This is not just a concert, but a living vocal dialogue — from duets to trios — featuring beloved classics alongside moments of vibrant improvisation. (Lynn Schusterman will be in for this one, fyi)
August 12: Map to the Future is a participatory performance experience with no stage, no actors — only the audience, who become the co-creators of the moment. Seated in groups of six around shared tables, participants receive a booklet of prompts that invites them to speak, listen, and imagine a shared future. Together, they draw a collective roadmap with words, colors, and imagination — in an intimate, safe space that builds a temporary community looking forward. Created by Daniel Cohen Levy with original music by Louai Khalif. Tickets will run out to this one fast, so let me know if you want to come.
August 21: Expanding Roots — Some music isn’t written — it sprouts. From roots that run deep through distant traditions, a new sound branches out — free, alive, and breathing the here and now. On this evening, five master musicians take the stage, each carrying a story and a breath of their own, weaving together a hypnotic musical tapestry. Featuring: Murad Khoury, Mayu Shviro, Louay Khleif, Roni Iwryn, and Nur Bar-Goren.
