ALLMEP announces new U.S. Director, Kari Reid

This has been a year of unprecedented growth for ALLMEP, adding new member organizations, expanding our member services and programs, supporting the passage of the Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act, and hiring key staff members to help support and facilitate this growth. In line with this growth, ALLMEP is proud to announce the appointment of a new US Director, Kari Reid.

Kari brings a depth of experience working on international development, foreign policy, and advocacy. Kari has worked as a foreign policy professional and non-profit leader in Washington, D.C. for fifteen years, serving as a foreign affairs advisor in the U.S. House of Representatives and as a policy expert at NGOs focused on global development and international relief efforts. Kari joins ALLMEP from Mercy Corps where she served as Director of Policy and Advocacy, leading the agency’s humanitarian policy work in the Middle East. She holds a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Minnesota and a master in public affairs degree from the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She recently completed a certificate for leaders in the foreign policy community at MIT’s Center for International Studies.

ALLMEP’s Executive Director, John Lyndon, was delighted at the appointment, explaining, “With the passage of the Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act, growing global interest in establishing an International Fund, and the expansion of programs and services for our members: ALLMEP is in a real moment of organizational growth. Kari’s rich experience and insights in both the D.C. policy world and in the Middle East– and her understanding of how governments and the third sector can work together to achieve political change—will be incredible assets to ALLMEP and our wider community at this critical period for Israeli/Palestinian peacebuilding.”

At this critical juncture for ALLMEP and for the region’s peacebuilders, Kari will undoubtedly be instrumental in helping to shape and lead a strategy that can ensure the potential of this moment is realized. Join us in congratulating Kari and welcoming her to the ALLMEP team!
