An economist by training, Giorgio Gomel is the former Head of International Economics and Relations at the Bank of Italy. He spent several years in the United Sates as an official at the International Monetary Fund. He is now working with NGOs engaged in sponsoring Israeli-Palestinian cooperation projects.
He is a Member of the Board of the Jewish Community of Rome and co-founder of Martin Buber Jews for Peace Group. Giorgio also serves as a Member of the Board at JCall, an association of European Jews committed to promoting a “two states for two peoples” solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He has written extensively on international economics and finance, on issues of migration , and on Israeli-Palestinian matters in scientific journals as well as in a number of Italian and foreign publications.
